Gutter guard installation in Austin

We install micro-mesh and screen guards on new and existing gutters to keep live oak leaves and catkins out of the gutter.

Micro-mesh guards

A micro-mesh guard has fine stainless steel mesh on a frame that covers the whole top of the gutter. Water passes through the mesh while leaves, catkins, and most grit stay on top. We suggest micro-mesh under live oaks because catkins and small leaves can slip through coarser screens.

Screen guards

A screen guard is a perforated metal panel with larger holes. It costs less than micro-mesh and keeps whole leaves out of the gutter. Smaller debris can pass through, so the gutter underneath still needs an occasional cleaning.

What guards don’t do

Guards cut down how often your gutters need cleaning, and you’ll still need to clean them. Debris collects on top of the guard, so it needs brushing off from time to time. Our gutter guard cost guide looks at whether guards are worth it.

Guards on the gutters you have

Guards can go on the gutters you already have if those gutters are sound. Before we put guards on, we clean the gutters, fix loose hangers and leaks, and check the pitch. A guard on a sagging or leaking gutter just covers the problem.

What guards cost

Angi’s Austin gutter guard cost page (updated June 2026) says most Austin homeowners spend between $862 and $1,971 on gutter guard installation. Our gutter guard cost guide has more.

Questions about gutter guards

Which guard works best under live oaks?

Micro-mesh is a better fit under live oaks. Live oak catkins and small leaves get through the larger holes of a screen guard.

Can guards go on my existing gutters?

Yes, guards can go on your existing gutters if they’re sound. We fix loose hangers, leaks, and pitch first because a guard on a failing gutter hides the problem.

Do I still need gutter cleaning with guards?

Yes, you’ll still need gutter cleaning with guards, though less often. Debris collects on top of the guard and needs brushing off, and downspouts still need checking.
